Our tribute night 6/7/09

We had a special tribute night for our husband's and all their hard work over the years! Ariel and Michelle helped and it turned out to be so much fun! I had slaved away on a slide show with all the highlights from our time in Ohio. It was a lot of work but so much fun and now we can all cherish our memories forever thanks to DVDs. We also decided to have an awards show and we called them the Amalgams!! Very prestigious! Here is our beautiful sign.

Ariel put together an awesome Power Point presentation to present the awards! We even got to have the whole thing in one of school's auditoriums, which was very cool. It was a huge screen and it made it really fun to watch the movie on.

Check out our awards! The girls got together and made these while the guys were golfing. It was all a surprise so we had to keep everything on the DL. This was my lovely award. The "Most likely to have a bleeding heart and not eat it" I was so honored!

We also made these adorable little prizes for everyone.

We had a yummy ice cream sundae dessert bar. Oh, it was delicious!

Our tribute night turned out to be better than I even expected. I think the guys were surprised and impressed with all our hard work. Hopefully they know how much we love and appreciate all their hard work. Once again, a shout out to the OSU Dental class of 2009!!! Thanks Ariel and Michelle for making the Amalgams a hit.

Trayden's last Doctor visit 6/2/09

I had to document Trayden's last doctor's visit because we LOVED our pediatrician so much. I am convinced I will never find another one like her.Here it is- Olentangy Pediatrics. We always looked forward to seeing her just not the shots.
Tray and Dr. Koesters. She is amazing and has such a special gift with kids. He never got upset with her maybe a little apprehensive with the instruments at times. She was so down to earth and helped me so much in the beginning when he was suffering so much. Tray loved her and we will miss her so much!

My cute bundle of joy. And I can't believe that bundle is a whole year old. It was sad to say goodbye to his pediatrician. She was so great and I knew it meant we were leaving Ohio soon. We will always remember our time there and the love she showed us.

Our move to Utah!

The time had sadly come to leave Ohio. I must say it was extremely hard and so sad to say goodbye. Here is our humble abode in Westerville. We spent 2 years here and loved every second of it. It was sad leaving and thinking about all that happened here. Tray was born here, we had tons of fun times with friends and we grew so much as a family. It was seriously some of the best years of my life. It was hard driving away and there were some serious tears shed.
James packing up the truck. What a job? We got a 26 footer and barely fit everything in it. I think our stuff has doubled since having a kid. Yikes! We had a great deal- I packed the boxes and he loaded them. One thing is for sure I do not want to move again for a very long time.
I have the cutest hubby ever! He was such a trooper and man his muscles came in handy.
The truck! Isn't she a beauty? We drove this thing across the country nearly 1800 miles. What a long trek. I should mention that we towed a car behind this truck and then I drove behind him in my car. It was a LOOOONG drive all alone. Sigh. Thanks to 4 books on CD and free mobile to mobile it went pretty good. It took us 5 days to get home which was torture being away from Trayden. It was the longest I have ever left him and it was so-o hard. That truck looks like a beast but she tops out at about 60 mph. It was a pretty drive but long enough that I don't want to do it again any time soon. I am so happy we made it home safely and Tray didn't forget who we were. I miss Ohio so much and I am sure that won't go away for a while. We will always be Buckeyes! Go BUCKS!!

The Hillstrom's come to visit 6/5-6/9

We were so excited that the WHOLE Hillstrom family could come out to see James's graduation. It meant so much to us and we loved having them around.

We had lots of fun and enjoyed the nice weather. We had a fun picnic.

It was so much fun having everyone out to see us one last time in Ohio. I love my family and am so grateful for all that they do. It was such a fun week!

What a hottie dentist!

It finally came... Graduation Day! Four years of hard work, dedication, long study hours, mean professors, and stress, but it all paid off and James did it! He is a DOCTOR!!! I am SO proud of him. Words cannot even express how much I admire him for all his endurance and hard work!

Going into the whole thing I had NO idea how difficult Dental School would be for him or for me. I actually got the easy end of it :) It has been quite the journey and there were definitely some days where James asked me if he was crazy for going through all of it. His first year was pretty tough (we were dating at the time). It was an tough transition and lots of credit hours. He studied every night until way late. Of course I complicated that a little with our 6 hour phone calls. Oops. Sorry Babe!

I remember meeting James and going on our first date when he dropped the bomb and told me that he was leaving for school in 2 weeks. WOWZA! That was not what I wanted to hear. He prolonged his stay for an extra 2 weeks and missed 2 football games. Sorry Babe, I hope I am worth it :) Unless you are a Buckeye fan you may not understand what a huge sacrifice that was. Anyways, he moved off to school and we did the whole long-distance thing for 10 months- yuck! Then we got married and 2 weeks later I was an Ohioan.

We grew so much as a couple as also as individuals during our time in Ohio. It was such a blessing and the best thing we could have ever done. We did not have anyone else in the beginning ( literally I knew no one but him when I moved out there) so we became best friends times 4. I might add that this was his 2nd year and he was super busy studying all the time and boards were right around the corner. I really admired his dedication and motivation. Boards were a whole different ball game. That was intense and meant lots of studying.

Studying all the time during his second year. I would come home from work and find him here with his books! All the wives would joke around and say that we were basically single that year b/c we never saw our hubbies :( It was really hard and I missed James a lot!!

A great day when he got the throw his anatomy book away!! Not really but at least he didn't have to read it every single day.

The 2nd year was the most challenging for me and I am sure for James too. I was so relieved when we got that year over with and got his board scores back. He did great!!

Third year came and went crazy fast, I think it had something to do with having a baby.

I must say that James gets the MVF (Most Valuable Father) award b/c I know it was hard for him to juggle being a new Dad and school. He did amazing at it. Seriously, I have never seen such an amazing Dad. There was a lot of colic and upset baby in the beginning and James was always there for me. He even helped me with the night feedings and got up every other night- THAT alone makes me so appreciative. He was a sleep- deprived Dad who kept on trucking and went to school and did his thing on like 4 hours of sleep. BABE, I owe you BIG!! Thank you honey!!

What a cute Daddy! He even had to go to school the day after he was born to see patients. Good thing I delivered at OSU so he could go back and forth alot.

Third year was much more relaxed but still stressful b/c now he was working on patients. This was when I saw James come alive, he didn't really enjoy studying at all but he loved working on patients. I loved hearing all his stories about the people he met and how he helped them. His patients LOVED him!! He would come home will all sorts of stuff. Food, chocolate, cards, pictures, and more. His patients became friends to us and gave us cute baby gifts and hand-made blankets. I was so proud of James for being the type of a person and Dentist where patients feel like friends. He has a real gift with people and they instantly love him. It was fun to watch him get all excited about his procedures and how they went. Of course there were always some hard days and interesting patients but overall he was having a blast! Third year was a lot of fun for me to watch. I felt like he was really becoming a Dentist and to see how much he loved it was so rewarding.

Then came more 4th year which was a blast thanks to all our awesome friends that we had made. Actually they pretty much made all the years a blast and were like our family. We did everything together. Thanksgiving, Easter, Mother's Day, you name it we got together.

It was a really fun year and more easy-going for James. He still worked really hard and had some long days seeing patients but did not have to study as much and I loved it! At that point he just had the pressure of getting requirements done and begin studying for his Boards Part 2 again.

James coming home after a long and stressful weekend in Cleveland to taking his licensing exam. It was a long weekend for him. James said "It was the most stressful thing he has ever had to do" that was a direct quote!

And finally here it is- Graduation! That day was a day of mixed emotion. I was so excited for James and for our future but a little sad to be moving on. When we got there and I saw James in his cap and gown all the sadness went away and I was just so proud of him and so happy. It was so special.

James is such an amazing person and he has a passion for Dentistry that I know is going to bless so many lives. I am so proud of you Babe. You did it! I love you more than anything and I can't believe I was so blessed to find you and be your wife forever!

It was such a huge moment for us. We had been looking forward to this moment for 4 years and it was so emotional and so exciting! We have come so far together and James is amazing. I know he can do anything he puts his mind to. I couldn't be more proud to be his wife.

It is so strange to think that our time in Ohio is over and we are all moving on with our lives. I don't think I am ready for that. Ohio will forever be somewhere special for me and James.
